Coffee and cream mug

I threw this mug from 1.25 pounds of dark stoneware clay. I kept its profile straight but carved a series of fluting lines around its base. The handle is pulled from a black of clay I attached to the body once the piece is in the leather hard stage. The glazes I used to coat this mug interacts mimics the way cream swirls in that first cup of coffee in the morning. 

The mugs from this batch are around 3.5" to 4" in height. Their bases are also 3.5" to 4" in diameter. They hold between 12 and 14 ounces of liquids when filled to the brim. 

This piece is food safe, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe.
