Glaucous copper mug

I threw this mug from 1.25 pounds of stoneware clay. I gave this mug a concave profile and then carved its side in an organic pattern reminiscing of mountains. The handle is pulled from a blank of clay I attached to the body once the piece is in the leather hard stage. The glazes I layered results in a bitonal application that breaks over the carvings.

The mugs from this batch are around 3.5" to 4" in height. Their bases are also 3.5" to 4" in diameter. They hold between 12 and 14 ounces of liquids when filled to the brim. 

This piece is food safe, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe.
