Variegated blue mug

I threw this mug from 1.25 pounds of stoneware clay. This mug has a simple straight profile onto which I carved the floral design. The handle is pulled from a blank of clay I attached to the body once the piece is in the leather hard stage. The colors in the flowers come from glaze I inlaid in the carved grooves. 

The mugs from this batch are around 3.5" to 4" in height. Their bases are also 3.5" to 4" in diameter. They hold between 12 and 14 ounces of liquids when filled to the brim. 

This piece is food safe, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe.
