This jar is made from a claybody that fires to dark gray-brown. The contrast with the green glaze is wonderful as the dark color peeks through the places where the glaze breaks.
The lid fits snuggly against the gallery of the jar and is decorated with a star-burst pattern that I carved into it. The body of the jar is concave, making it easy to hold. The body is also carved with a simplified version of the star-burst carving.
The jar stands 7" tall and is almost 5" in diameter. The inside of the jar is coated with a clear glaze. All the glazes are food-safe, dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe.
